Modern architects of Moscow are concerned about historical and cultural issues.

The 20th century brought different views on nature, different colors. Representatives of this group were P. Konchalovsky, I. Mashkov, A. Lentulov, A. Osmerkin, D. Burlyuk.

In the album "Revolutionary Moscow" there are works in which the industrial landscape comes to the fore (V. Falileev. "Barricades on Presnya." 1921).

In the first years after the revolution, artists and architects worked hard to create an environment for people to communicate, providing them with culture and recreation parks, amphitheaters with thousands of seats for mass actions and sports competitions — "Octobrid", huge grand staircase stands, wide esplanades, squares for crowded demonstrations and new revolutionary rituals. Devichye Pole, Sokolniki, Krasnaya Presnya Park and other venues gathered huge crowds of people for rallies.

A huge step forward has been made by the revolutionary festive aesthetics. In a broadly and comprehensively understood artistic synthesis, in the complex interaction of architecture, visual and entertainment arts with nature and music, there were ways to transform the chaos of the surrounding world created by the capitalist city. A special place was given to monumental fine art.

But what about our 80s? It can be stated that Moscow's artists and architects are once again concerned about historical and cultural issues. The new environment that we have created in the last two or three decades clearly does not suit the artists. They are rethinking their attitude towards cultural heritage. Once again, the poetry of the old Moscow quarters has taken a prominent place in the visual arts — in a series of works by Yu. Arndt's "Moscow", in the paintings of A. Neumann "Moscow Courtyard", A. Vinogradov "Landscape in Cheryomushki". The lyrical series of V. Kudryavtsev's watercolors, shown at the exhibition "Moscow in Architectural Graphics" in the Central City Library named after N. A. Nekrasov, is inspired by the ancient manors of Moscow.

However, much less modern culture (except that journalism) concerns the topic of new architecture in Moscow. Yes, it lacks the spirituality of the old city, whose architecture is closely related to historical events, and the urban space is commensurate with the human scale. There is nothing to remind the new districts of the capital that they originated in territories interesting both for their history and nature.

Some villages that are now part of the city, such as Yasenevo, had a palace estate with a church. Peter I was a frequent visitor to Yasenev, who loved to sit under an ancient oak tree that decorated this area back in our century. However, none of these courtyards have been preserved. The village of Krylatskoye has also disappeared without a trace, with only an architectural monument — a church in the middle of the 19th century — standing alone among hills and ravines in a dilapidated state.
